Our shared imperative – responding to the climate crisis
Wednesday 9 December | 09:30 – 10:30
Keynote Speaker: Lizzie Webb, CEO, Kindred Spirits Enterprises
The context in which engineers work has changed dramatically over the past year with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. For many Australian engineering companies and universities, there is no business-as-usual just over the horizon. However, this disruption to our work presents a profound opportunity to transform engineering practice.
As systems thinkers, we know that bushfires, the global pandemic, economic recession, climate emergency and biodiversity loss are all related crises and indicators of living systems in decline.
Lizzie’s presentation will identify and explore opportunities for positive disruption in engineering practice and education with a focus on climate action. Following her presentation, Lizzie will facilitate a discussion on how we work together to shift the engineering mindset towards regeneration of the natural environment, and the creation of deep value for the communities and clients we serve.
