Purpose-First Approach to Laboratories
Tuesday 8 December | 13:30 – 15:00
OVERVIEW OF WORKSHOP
Laboratories are an integral part of engineering education that have been repeated noted as underresearched. Certain aspects of these activities have been heavily reported – usually practice reports of specific laboratories – while other aspects such as the design and integration of laboratories into wider curricula have far less available. These practice reports vary widely in what they report, making syntheses such as meta-analyses difficult. The focus of this workshop is a novel framework for laboratories that seeks to unify design, evaluation, and research of laboratories with a common language, as well as a process for conducting practitioner research leveraging this framework.
